Narkosemiddel

A medicine which stops you feeling pain. The doctor gives you a local or general anaesthetic before an operation. In the case of local anaesthetic, only the part of the body which is going to be operated on is anaesthetized, so you feel nothing there, but are still awake. In the case of general anaesthetic, the anaesthetic puts you to sleep.
