Pubic lice are sexually transmitted. Common symptoms are itching and skin rash around the genitals. Condoms do not protect against infection. Pubic lice is cause by a parasite (very tiny animal) that lives in the pubic hair. They are treated with an over-the-counter lice-killing lotion found at the pharmacy. Bed linen, towels and clothes should be washed at 60 degrees.
