HIV testing
HIV often has no clear symptoms at first. You often cannot see whether you have HIV: get yourself tested. This is the only way to know for sure.
In Norway you don't need to pay to get tested for HIV. The one performing the test is bound by the duty of confidentiality.
Symptoms
Many people do not experience symptoms at first after being infected with HIV.
If you experience symptoms, the symptoms might resemble the flu:
- fever;
- tiredness;
- swollen lymph nodes.
- rash on the skin;
- aching muscles and joints
If you have HIV and don't take medicines, HIV will in time weaken your immune system. Your body cannot defend itself against infections any more.
It is not possible to know if someone has HIV by looking at him or her.
